Rust-Oleum Furniture Paint Chalky Finish

Covers 10.5m² per 750ML tin per coat and 1.75m2 per 125ml tin per coat.

Create a distressed look by applying two coats in contrasting colours then sanding/ scouring when dry. Water based, no priming or sanding necessary on most surfaces. 

Preparation:

• Simply wipe down your furniture before applying a coat of the paint on top of bare wood, existing paint or varnish.

Application:

• Ensure the paint is stirred well.
• Apply by brush using even strokes.
• If you want a solid finish, you may need two coats.

Tip: If you find the paint too thick, you can add water to gain the desired consistency – a thicker paint will give a more textured finish, whilst the thinner the paint, the smoother the end result. It’s up to you!

• If you want to achieve a distressed finish on your piece of furniture, apply one coat of the base colour, and one coat of the top colour.
• Once the paint has dried, use a fine grade sandpaper and lightly sand down the areas where you want to see the base colour.
• Ensure you take a step back every now and then to check that you are getting the best possible finish.
• If you find that you remove too much paint and aren’t happy with the finish, simply pop another coat of the top
  coat over the affected areas, leave to dry, and then sand again until the desired finish is achieved.
• Once you are happy with the finish, apply a light coating of clear wax over the paint.
• Leave this to dry for 5 minutes and then buff to a light sheen with a soft, lint free cloth.
• The wax protects and enhances the paint.

Cleaning:

• Brushes can be easily cleaned with water.

Do not use or store in extremes of temperature and protect from frost.
