Osmo polyx hardwax oil matt is a non-yellowing oil ideal for high-traffic areas needing extra protection alongside dirt and water resistance. It is available for use on interior wood such as furniture, floorboards, slate, cork and quarry tiles.
Up to 24m² per litre
Preparation:
Surfaces must be clean and dry, removing all traces of dust and dirt before application (maximum moisture content 20%). Only apply on frost free surfaces. For guaranteed performance, Osmo recommend that all traces of previous finishes are removed to expose clean, bare wood.
Existing oiled surfaces can be lightly rubbed back with meths then fully cleaned
Pre-existing paints, varnishes, waxes and sealers must be completely removed by sanding or with a suitable varnish or paint stripper / remover
Use Osmo Interior Wood Filler, Osmo Interior Gap Sealer or Osmo Repair Kit to repair small dents and holes
To protect against blue stain in moist surroundings, pre-treat with biocide-free wax impregnation Osmo Wood Protector
Application
We always recommend applying a test area to ascertain drying times and effect. Osmo Polyx-Oil is ready-to-use from the tin, do not thin. Stir thoroughly prior to application. Osmo oils dry via oxidation so it is important to ensure good ventilation during application and drying.
Application to Wood Floors
The ideal application tool is a firm, fine, natural bristled brush. For the best results, apply thinly and remove any excess oil from the surface of the wood with a clean, lint-free cloth.
1. Apply first coat thinly and evenly along the wood grain with an Osmo Floor Brush - use in conjunction with the Osmo Telescopic Handle for ease of application
2. Remove any surplus oil and leave to dry (8-10 hours)
3. Lightly de-nib the surface
4. Remove all traces of de-nibbing / sanding dust with a vacuum cleaner
5. Apply a second thin coat and allow to fully dry
Application to Cork floors
Cork tiles are best treated before fitting to avoid overlapping treatment of edges which would lead to prolonged drying times. A cork floor treated with Osmo Polyx-Oil will get a robust, elastic and wear-resistant surface which will harden further over 2-3 weeks. Due to the extreme absorption power of this highly elastic, natural, material we recommend the following procedure:
1. Apply first coat very thinly with an Osmo Professional Scraper or Osmo Double Blade Scraper, and for smaller areas use an Osmo Soft Tip Brush
2. Polyx-Oil should immediately absorb into the surface
3. Leave to dry for at least 24 hours
4. Apply second coat, again very thinly
5. Remove excess with cloth immediately
6. Leave to dry for at least 24 hours
Regular Cleaning
For daily maintenance, cleaning with a dry duster, floor mop or vacuum cleaner will be sufficient. For commercial premises, an electric floor polisher can be used.
Please Note: Oiled or waxed surfaces should not be cleaned with a steam cleaner or steam mop as these will degrade or potentially strip the oiled finish.
Renovation
Renovating, even partially, is quick and easy. Just clean and re-treat worn areas with a thin coat of Osmo Polyx Oil for an invisible repair. For deeper stains and scratches, a light sanding of the affected area may be required. Once the stain or scratch has been removed, clean the area thouroughly to remove all traces of sanding dust then re-oil the affected area for a seemless repair.
Do not use or store in extremes of temperature and protect from frost.

Osmo Polyx Hardwax Oil Matt 3062 is suitable for use on a wide range of interior wood surfaces, including floors, furniture, countertops, and wooden toys. It can be used on both hardwood and softwood surfaces.
Osmo Polyx Hardwax Oil Matt 3062 can be used on bare wood as well as on wood previously treated with the same or compatible Osmo oil-based products. However, it's important to ensure that the previous treatment is in good condition and free from any other incompatible finishes. Test a small area or consult the manufacturer's guidelines for compatibility with existing treatments.
The drying time of Osmo Polyx Hardwax Oil Matt 3062 can vary depending on factors such as temperature, humidity, and ventilation. Generally, the first coat dries within 8-10 hours, and the second coat can be applied after that if desired. However, it's recommended to allow the finish to fully cure for approximately 10-14 days before subjecting it to heavy use or placing furniture on the surface.
Osmo Polyx Hardwax Oil Matt 3062 is designed to be a self-sufficient finish that does not require an additional top coat or varnish. Applying a clear top coat or varnish over it may alter the appearance and performance of the matt finish. If additional protection is desired, it's recommended to choose a compatible clear top coat within the Osmo range and test it on a small inconspicuous area first.
To maintain surfaces finished with Osmo Polyx Hardwax Oil Matt 3062, regularly clean with a soft, damp cloth or mop using a mild wood floor cleaner or Osmo Wash and Care. Avoid using harsh cleaning agents or excessive water. If the surface shows signs of wear or becomes dull over time, it can be refreshed by applying a thin maintenance coat of the same Osmo Polyx Hardwax Oil Matt 3062.
Osmo Polyx Hardwax Oil Matt 3062 is considered safe for use on children's toys and surfaces that come into contact with food once it has fully cured. It's important to allow the product to dry and cure completely according to the manufacturer's instructions before exposing it to such applications.
