Osmo Polyx Hardwax Oil Effect is an extremely durable and hardwearing wood finish with a nearly invisible appearance.
Hardwax Oil is a unique combination of natural oils and waxes which, unlike other finishes, uses plant ingredients to create a harmonious appearance and even colouring.
It has many benefits for your wooden flooring and furniture surfaces, including it's abrasion resistance, stain resistance and it's water repellency.
Osmo Polyx Hardwax Oil has a microporous and breathable finish which will not crack, peel or flake! Surfaces don't need to be sanded or primed before use!
Polyx Hardwax Oil is available in Raw (3044) which is a transparent finish with light white pigmentation, keeping light coloured wood staying light.
For extractive rich hardwoods (e.g. Wenge, Merbau, Jatoba etc.), we recommend using Osmo Wood Wax Finish Clear Extra Thin.
30m² per litre with one coat
Preparation:
The finished surface is influenced by several factors, including the condition of the wood. Therefore, a trial application is always required, especially for unfamiliar surfaces.
Application:
Clean Brushes with Osmo Brush Cleaner.
Care:
Regular Cleaning: Dust mopping using the green Dust-Mop from the Osmo Mop Cleaning Kit for Floors. Damp mopping using diluted Osmo Wash and Care and the Micro-Mop plush from the Osmo Mop Cleaning Kit for Floors. Alternatively use the convenient Osmo Spray-Mop.
Occasional Maintenance: If the oiled surface remains light in colour yet there is a reduction in water repellency, refresh the surface with Osmo Maintenance Oil 3079 Clear Matt. Before using Osmo Maintenance Oil 3079, damp clean the surface using diluted Osmo Wash and Care, or alternatively Osmo Spray cleaner and allow to fully dry. For small areas Osmo Maintenance Oil 3079 can be applied thinly with a lint free cloth or white pad. Remove excess product. Allow for good ventilation while drying. A small trial is highly recommended first.
Recoating: When slight signs of wear become visible, and providing the surface does not become completely bare, simply re-apply one thin coat onto the clean and dry surface. Avoid applying Polyx®-Oil Effect Raw to bare wood surfaces that have become dirty. Bare, dirty surfaces could appear more rich and dark following the application of the oil finish. A small trial is highly recommended first.
Do not use or store in extremes of temperature and protect from frost.

Osmo Polyx Hardwax Oil Effect can be used on bare wood as well as on wood previously treated with the same or compatible Osmo oil-based products. However, it's important to ensure that the previous treatment is in good condition and free from any other incompatible finishes. Test a small area or consult the manufacturer's guidelines for compatibility with existing treatments.
The drying time of Osmo Polyx Hardwax Oil Effect can vary depending on factors such as temperature, humidity, and ventilation. Generally, the first coat dries within 8-10 hours, and the second coat can be applied after that if desired. However, it's recommended to allow the finish to fully cure for approximately 10-14 days before subjecting it to heavy use or placing furniture on the surface.
Osmo Polyx Hardwax Oil Effect is designed to be a self-sufficient finish that does not require an additional top coat or varnish. Applying a clear top coat or varnish over it may alter the appearance and performance of the effect. If additional protection is desired, it's recommended to choose a compatible clear top coat within the Osmo range and test it on a small inconspicuous area first.
To maintain surfaces finished with Osmo Polyx Hardwax Oil Effect, regularly clean with a soft, damp cloth or mop using a mild wood floor cleaner or Osmo Wash and Care. Avoid using harsh cleaning agents or excessive water. If the surface shows signs of wear or becomes dull over time, it can be refreshed by applying a thin maintenance coat of the same Osmo Polyx Hardwax Oil Effect.
Osmo Polyx Hardwax Oil Effect finishes are not specifically formulated or tested for use on children's toys or surfaces that come into direct contact with food. It's recommended to use them on surfaces where there is no direct contact with food or children's mouths. If you require a finish for such applications
